Thanksgiving is great! Quality time with family (I guess this could be both a good and bad thing 😅), loads of delicious food (especially the dessert), and great Black Friday deals and savings (check OBTC out!!). Sometimes, it is easy to eat a little too much, or the L-Tryptophan hits a little too hard - am I right?? Our Pecan Pie Pu Erh is the perfect tea to enjoy after Thanksgiving dinner for several reasons!
Our Pecan Pie is a pu erh tea mixed with black tea, safflower, natural pecan flavor, natural maple flavor, and fresh pecans grown in Las Cruces, NM.
I mentioned in another blog posts that pu erh tea is my absolute favorite type of tea because of it's health benefits! Pu erh tea is a fermented tea that has oxidized for a period of time! Pu erh tea promotes healthy gut bacteria and helps break down fats in the stomach. It is great for digestion, metabolism, bloating and weight loss! These properties are what make this tea so great after a heavy meal - like a Thanksgiving dinner!
Good quality Black tea is seriously underrated! It has lots of health benefits, just like other loose leaf teas! Black tea contains about 40 to 60 mg of caffeine per cup, and is good for mental alertness and energy. Black tea is also good for diabetes prevention and regulation, osteoporosis prevention, and to boost metabolism. The caffeine in black tea added with the caffeine of the pu erh tea will help combat that drowiness from the L-Tryptophan!
Pecan Pie Pu Erh is blended with pecans grown in Las Cruces, NM. The fresh pecans add so much nutty flavor! This pu erh is definitely a unique New Mexico inspired blend!
Pecan Pie Pu Erh is delicious on its own iced or hot but, this time of year, we love it served hot, with a dash of cream, and a spoonful of honey (or, if you need a little extra help to get through your family gathering, with a splash of Bailey's Irish Cream)!
Pecan Pie Pu Erh is one of our staff favorites!

Hello! My name is Maggie! I am a Marine Scientist that was moved to the New Mexican desert with my family by the Air Force! That move was never in my plan, even in my wildest dreams, and I felt lost in the desert for awhile! Meeting the founding owners of Old Barrel Tea Company and falling in love with the store allowed me to find an oasis in the desert! I had no idea what loose leaf tea was, but now I believe in this company and the product! I hope that I can extend some of the love and knowledge with all of our followers and readers!
